Re “Wars, Endless Wars” (column, March 3):

I share Bob Herbert’s concern that the war in Afghanistan could undermine President Obama’s administration. Although I have supported Mr. Obama since early in his campaign, I shudder when he says the real fight is in Afghanistan.

Prolonging that Bush-era conflict is not change I can believe in. The real fight is in the economic arena. Mr. Obama should exit the “graveyard of empires” before it consumes him.
