This blog post by law professor William Jacobson expresses my view almost perfectly. Democrat presidents deserve to have their judicial nominees savaged, since that is the Democrat M.O. when it comes to nominees of Republican presidents. (Think back to how John Roberts and Samuel Alito were treated. If you have a strong stomach, think back to how Clarence Thomas and Robert Bork were treated.) But we conservatives are better than progressives. Many progressives, not just in government but in journalism and academia, are little more than thugs.
