Boondocks 1. I found 20 pennies during my run just now, four of them while running (in two locations) and 16 while doing my cool-down walk. If I keep running, I'll be rich. Do you pick up coins? If so, are you embarrassed by it? I'm not. What I wonder is how the coins get on the street. Could it be spontaneous generation?

2. I ran in the rain (a drizzle, actually). The relative humidity must be 100%. This means that my perspiration could not evaporate, and that in turn means that my body was unable to cool itself. Although the temperature was only 77º Fahrenheit, it was oppressive. That made it all the more enjoyable.

3. I get laughed at (by people I pass, including kids) for wearing shorts. I have no idea why, for this is the runner's uniform. So what if the fashion is to wear knickers. Does that mean that everyone, in every activity, must wear knickers? I wouldn't be caught dead in knickers. I don't understand the laughter. Maybe it's just ignorance about running. Maybe these people have never seen a track-and-field event, even on television.
