According to this Cyclingnews.com story, there is a rumor to the effect that Alberto Contador will join Garmin-Slipstream. Unless Bradley Wiggins goes elsewhere, that would create the same sort of tension that existed on Astana. By the way, there is no reason why a team can't have two or more leaders. The problem arises when the leaders participate in the same tour. For example, Lance Armstrong would have had no problem with Contador (personally or professionally) had Lance done the Tour de France and Contador the Giro d'Italia or Vuelta a Espana. A team director should divide up the races among the team's leaders. Let Levi Leipheimer focus on winning the Tour of California and the Giro; let Lance focus on winning the Tour; let Contador focus on winning the Vuelta. When these racers aren't racing to win, they can play supporting roles. That's what Lance did in the Tour of California and the Giro, and what Levi did in the Tour (before breaking his wrist).
