Keith,

A couple of years ago I had an argument with a friend over the movie "Super Size Me." My friend bought in to the notion, as expressed in the movie, that fast-food places, such as McDonalds, are evil and cause many people to become fat. He strongly suggested that I go see the movie. Our argument was over whether I would see the movie or not—I told him I didn't see any point in going, I already knew that eating at McDonalds (and Burger King, and Wendy's, etc.) was a poor choice. He told me I really needed to see how bad the food was, how it was overloaded with calories, and how they package it in such a way as to make it unhealthful. I told him I didn't need to spend $15  and two hours on a movie to learn something I already knew: that eating at these places regularly was not good for one's health. I added that it has been at least fifteen years since I've eaten at one of these places.

Well, what has prompted me to write is this article from Yahoo.

Being fat is a choice born of self-indulgence and ignorance. Clearly the fast-food joints know their market when they add such stuff to the menu.

Steve Walsh
