The Bronx Bombs are running away with the American League East Division title, so the only hope for the Boston Rat Sox is to win the wild card. As of this writing, the Rat Sox are tied with my adoptive team, the Texas Rangers, for the wild-card lead. (Only the loss column matters, as any serious baseball fan knows.) The teams play a three-game series beginning this evening, just 10 miles from my house. I'll be watching the games on television so as not to be around Rat Sox fans, of whom there is a disturbing abundance in these parts. Look for Josh Hamilton to continue his torrid hitting. He has 18 hits in his past 10 games (nine in his past three), which has raised his average to .260. At that rate, he would have 291.6 hits in 162 games. Obviously, nobody (even Ichiro) could stay that hot for an entire season. I mention it only to indicate what a groove Josh is in.
Addendum: Here is a video from Baseball Tonight, which is the only thing worth watching (besides the games themselves) on ESPN.
