Do progressives not realize how transparent they are? Nobody expends effort in attacking a nobody. That progressives expend so much effort in attacking Sarah Palin shows how much they fear her. Think about it. If they believed that she was powerless, why would they so much as think about her, much less write column after column attacking her?
Why do progressives fear Palin? Because they know she is a formidable politician who is quite capable of knocking off their idol, Barack Obama. Why is she formidable? Because she's intelligent, articulate, attractive (physically and otherwise), ambitious, and popular. Yes, popular. Millions of ordinary Americans, many of whom have no political voice, identify with her and support her. She speaks to and for them. She shares their values and articulates their concerns. Another reason progressives hate Palin is that, unlike many Republicans, she's feisty. She gives as good as she gets. She knows where progressivism is vulnerable and aims her spear at precisely those points.
I can't wait until 2012. I welcome a contest between Palin the populist and Obama the elitist. Palin had the albatross of John McCain around her neck in 2008. This will not be the case in 2012. Who else is on the Palin bandwagon? Don't be shy.
