This is one of the first honest pieces of reporting I've seen in the New York Times, as regards President Obama. When stories were written about President Bush, there was a sneering, cynical tone, as though the president were lying and the reporter's job was to expose it. When stories are written about President Obama, the tone is different. He is assumed to be honest and benevolent. Those who oppose his policies must therefore be ignorant (of relevant facts), stupid, or malevolent. I keep hoping that journalists come to their senses. They have nothing to gain, in the long run, by being biased in favor of President Obama. They have much to lose, namely, their credibility. A reporter without credibility is like a car without an engine.
