New York's magic number to clinch the American League East Division title is 23. It must kill Rat Sox fans to be trailing the Bronx Bombs again. The Rats have finished ahead of the Bombs only twice (2007 and 2008) in the past 13 years. That's what I call dominance.
Addendum: I almost hate to say this, lest I jinx them, but the magic number of my beloved Detroit Tigers is 25. Is their lead still "precarious," John?
