Almost nothing went right for me yesterday in the sporting world. My beloved Arizona Wildcats (2-0) lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes, 27-17. My beloved Detroit Tigers blew a lead late in the game and lost to the Minnesota Twins. The Nebraska Cornhuskers lost to the Virginia Tech Hokies in the final seconds. (I like Nebraska, which is my friend Carlos's favorite team.) The Michigan State Spartans lost to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. (Does anyone not hate the Irish?) About the only thing that went well for me (besides my bike rally in Greenville) is that my adoptive team, the Texas Rangers, held on to beat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 3-2. Here is the latest Associated Press ranking of college-football teams. Nebraska stayed in the top 25.
