It's great to see that law professor John Yoo has not been cowed by his critics, some of whom attack him personally rather than find fault with his reasoning. Yoo is the author of some of the Bush's administration's "torture memos." A fanatical Spanish judge is trying to charge him with war crimes. Certain of Yoo's colleagues in the legal academy (as well as some outside the academy) have tried to get him fired, even though he has tenure. I don't think the attacks are about Yoo. They're designed to send a signal to conservative law professors (and law students) that they had better not work in conservative presidential administrations. If they do, their careers will be destroyed. The legal academy is a vile place. Many law professors are little more than thugs.
