Déjà vu. Three years ago, as you may recall, the Minnesota Twins snatched the Central Division title from my beloved Detroit Tigers on the final day of the season. Actually, the Twins didn't snatch it; the Tigers handed it to them. Is the same thing going to happen this year? It could. The Twins beat the Tigers today, 8-3, to split the four-game series. The Tigers still lead the Twins by two games, with three games yet to be played. The Twins host the Kansas City Royals, while the Tigers host the Chicago White Sox. I have no doubt that Ozzie Guillen will have his team fired up. I'm pretty sure the Tigers will win at least one of the three games, but what if the Twins sweep the Royals? Then the Tigers and Twins finish in a dead heat. There will be a one-game playoff in Minnesota on Tuesday. That will not be good for the Tigers. I was hoping for a Tiger victory today, so that the weekend games wouldn't mean anything. But that would be too easy on long-suffering Tiger fans, wouldn't it?
