Football I count nine undefeated Division I teams: Cincinnati (5-0), South Florida (5-0), Kansas (5-0), Texas (5-0), Iowa (6-0), TCU (5-0), Florida (5-0), Alabama (6-0), and Boise State (5-0). Cincinnati plays South Florida later this season, while Kansas plays Texas, so that will reduce the number to seven. If only two teams go undefeated, it'll be hard to keep them from playing for the national championship. Then again, don't underestimate the strength of the desire to get USC into the title game.

Addendum: Here is the latest Associated Press ranking. Alabama leapt over Texas to second place, behind Florida. LSU, which lost to Florida, fell to 10th. Nebraska, with a stirring victory over Missouri this past Thursday, moved up to 15th. It's great to see the Cornhuskers ranked so highly after so many years of mediocrity. Bo Pelini is slowly but surely returning the program to greatness. In a couple of years, you'll see Nebraska in the BCS title game, perhaps against Alabama.
