One of my colleagues sent a link to this story, about replacing umpires with machines. I missed the play in question. The umpire appears to be looking directly at the ball from just a few feet away. How could he miss the call? Does anyone think he was trying to throw the game? I hate to think anyone would be that corrupt, but it's been known to happen in other sports, such as basketball.
