The judge in the case asked, "What would be the harm of permitting gay men and lesbians to marry?" Compare: "What would be the harm of permitting dogs to vote?" Does the inability to answer the second question mean that we should permit dogs to vote? (God forbid we should permit cats to vote. They would redistribute wealth in a heartbeat.)
