To the Editor:
Re “The Cell Refuseniks, an Ever-Shrinking Club” (Business Day, Oct. 23): I’m one of the “older” ones who retired from the cellphone along with the job about 10 years ago.
When I am captive to the personal calls of strangers in the grocery, movie or airport boarding line or see a driver with a phone attached to the ear plowing toward my stopped vehicle, I think my decision to be cellphoneless is advantageous for myself and others:
¶I bore only my friends or family members.
¶I keep my planning and scheduling skills intact.
¶I don’t have a false sense of my importance.
¶Road travelers are safer.
¶My granddaughter sees that it is possible to “live” and function at a reasonable level without a cellphone.
