Today marks the sixth anniversary of this blog, which began life as “AnalPhilosopher.” I’m pretty sure I haven’t missed a day of blogging, although I’m bound to do so eventually.
Here, in case you’re interested, is my first blog post. Here is what I wrote on my first anniversary. Here is what I wrote on my second anniversary. Here is what I wrote on my third anniversary. Here is what I wrote on my fourth anniversary. Here is what I wrote on my fifth anniversary. There have been 1,733,433 visits to this blog in six years. That’s an average of 790.7 visits per day (yes, I counted the leap years in 2004 and 2008).
Addendum: Here is a year-by-year breakdown of visits:
Year 1: 131,571 visits
Year 2: 246,165 visits (an increase of 87.0%)
Year 3: 399,389 visits (an increase of 62.2%)
Year 4: 423,626 visits (an increase of 06.0%)
Year 5: 291,649 visits (a decrease of 31.1%)
Year 6: 241,033 visits (a decrease of 17.3%)

Total: 1,733,433 visits
I know the trend looks bad, but keep in mind that I used to get lots of visits from Tech Central Station, for which I was a columnist. I also got links from Glenn Reynolds and Michelle Malkin from time to time. I prefer to think that my early numbers were inflated rather than that my current numbers are down. In other words, my numbers are now honest—and fairly steady. I do almost nothing to bring traffic to this blog. This isn’t to say that I don’t appreciate links; it’s to say that I don’t solicit them as I once did.
