Sarah Palin's book is ranked #1 in Amazon.com bestsellers. Do you plan to buy it? I've been listening to a lot of commentary about why Palin is hated. I think there are many reasons, including fear of her political power, which is increasing. What drives progressives crazy is that Palin does not see herself as a victim. Feminists have been telling women for well over a generation that they are oppressed by men and need governmental assistance (in the form of affirmative action, for example) to be treated fairly. Palin is an independent woman who makes her own choices, and she rejects feminism. Her greatest sin, from the point of view of progressives (though they would never admit it), is that she's happy. She loves her husband; she adores her children; she's physically fit, athletic, outgoing, and attractive; she has a high-powered career of her own that owes nothing to her husband's accomplishments. (Compare Hillary Clinton, who has ridden Bill's coattails to political power.) Many feminists are bitter and resentful. They blame men for their problems. They are green with envy, jealousy, spite, and spleen and hate any woman who isn't as miserable as they are. They don't realize that it's their feminism that made them this way. Feminism, far from liberating women, has enslaved them.
Addendum: I have some advice for young women, especially those of college age. You are told by progressives (including feminists) that conservatives are misogynistic and that your true interests lie with progressivism. Why, then, is Palin so popular among conservatives? Why did so many of them vote for her as their vice president? Why do they turn out in droves to hear her speak? Why is her book selling like hotcakes? Conservatives don't care about your sex or the color of your skin. They care about ideas and values. Who is attacking Palin? Progressives. These attackers are trying to intimidate you. They are sending you a message: "If you become a conservative, like Palin, you will be smeared, attacked, and destroyed." How does that make you feel? Do you appreciate being intimidated? Choose wisely.
