Students at the University of California are learning an important lesson: TANSTAAFL (There Ain't No Such Thing as a Free Lunch). By the way, when I came out of graduate school in 1989, I wanted to teach in California, preferably at UC-Santa Cruz or UC-Santa Barbara. Thank God I didn't. I have come to love Texas, which, when it comes to the proper relation between the individual and the state, does things right. California is just another failed socialist state. Will human beings ever learn? The key to prosperity is limited government.
