Finally, a postseason award that makes sense! Albert Pujols is not of this world. In nine years as a Major Leaguer, he has won three MVP awards, finished second three times, finished third once, finished fourth once, and finished ninth once. The ninth-place finish reminds me of something my stepfather said to me when I was in high school. We were eating dinner one evening when my mother showed him my report card. I had something like 29 A's and one A-. He examined it for a minute or two as he chewed his food, then asked, in all seriousness, "What happened?" I knew that he and my mother were proud of me and had high expectations of me. It made me work even harder. If I ever meet Albert Pujols, I will mention the ninth-place finish and ask, "What happened?"
