Francis Bacon (1561-1626) I salute John Tierney of the New York Times for having the courage to stand up to the politicized scientists involved in the global-warming scandal. The damage these thugs have done to science is incalculable. If I were a scientist, I would drive them out of the profession. They have proved by their actions that they lack scientific aptitude, scientific integrity, and scientific humility. Science is supposed to be open and honest. Hypotheses are to be put forth tentatively and subjected to rigorous testing. Science is designed to elicit the truth, however messy, inconvenient, or politically incorrect it may be.

By the way, now you know why Design Theory (i.e., Intelligent Design) is so ruthlessly attacked by Darwinians. They view it as a threat. They're not interested in finding fault with it on an intellectual basis, or showing why Darwinism is a superior explanation of the data. Their aim is political: to destroy Design Theorists. This is thuggery, not science. It is the antithesis of science. Francis Bacon (1561-1626) is rolling over in his grave.

Addendum 4: Charles Murray weighs in. Imagine an historian who locates a trove of letters by Benjamin Franklin, analyzes them, and writes a scholarly essay about them. The letters are then lost. Who would accord any authority to the essay? If you don't have the data on which you base your analysis, or if you do but won't allow anyone else to see them, you may as well have made it all up.
