Here is the latest Associated Press ranking. Florida fell from first to fifth after yesterday's loss to Alabama. My beloved Arizona Wildcats moved into the ranking at 22d after their stunning defeat of USC in Los Angeles. The Cats are 8-4, but should be 10-2. Nebraska is ranked 20th after yesterday's close loss to Texas. The Cornhuskers have lost three close games this season (by one point, one point, and two points) and could easily be 12-1. It appears that Alabama will meet Texas in the BCS title game.
Addendum: We now know what it takes for USC to fall from the top 25: a loss, at home, to Arizona.
Addendum 2: Two of the top three teams in the nation are from Texas. We also have a first-place NFL team.
Addendum 3: My friend Carlos composed a haiku to express his disappointment over yesterday's Cornhusker loss. Carlos was in attendance. The game was played in Arlington, just 10 miles from my house. In fact, I can see the stadium from the street near my house.
