Here is the latest lunacy. Tell you what. We Americans will make reparations to other peoples for the "harm" we have done to them by polluting the atmosphere if they pay us for the technology we have produced and from which they benefit. You can't have it both ways. Either we reconstruct history on both sides of the ledger, making the debtor pay the creditor, or we do nothing. I'm pretty sure Americans have produced more good than evil in our short history.
Addendum: One way in which the United States has benefited the world is by protecting it. I'll let President Obama make the point:
“Whatever mistakes we have made, the plain fact is this,” Mr. Obama said. “The United States of America has helped underwrite global security for more than six decades with the blood of our citizens and the strength of our arms.”
This is from our president's Nobel Prize speech in Norway. If you want reparations for global warming, first pony up for the protection you have received from us.
