Garry Wills feels "betrayed" by President Obama, even though he (Wills) admits that candidate Obama promised to continue the war in Afghanistan. There's a disconnect here. Did Wills think that candidate Obama was lying? Pretending? Kidding? Is Wills stupid? Is he living in denial? Is he engaged in wish-fulfillment? Was he projecting his own pacifism onto candidate Obama, while ignoring what Obama actually said? Why would anyone with any degree of self-awareness do such a thing? This is genuinely perplexing to me. Any thoughts?
