Alan Trammell I have a hard time taking the National Baseball Hall of Fame seriously, given that it doesn't contain as a member the greatest player in the history of baseball. John Sullivan sent a link to the 2010 Hall of Fame ballot. I would vote for Jack Morris and Alan Trammell. You will say it's because they played for my beloved Detroit Tigers. I will deny it. It's because they deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. That they played for my Tigers just means that I know firsthand what they did. Alan Trammell is one of the best players I have ever seen. He did things for his team that never showed up in a box score (sue me for using that cliché). He was utterly committed to winning and did whatever it took to win (within the confines of the rules, obviously). Trammell was a magnificent clutch hitter. I think that if everything were on the line, I would want him (even more than Derek Jeter) at the plate. Jack Morris was a throwback pitcher in the mold of Bob Gibson and Jim Palmer. There was no fiercer competitor. When he took the ball, he was good for nine innings (or more). If Trammell and Morris aren't in the Hall of Fame, then it's a useless piece of shit.
