If I survive three more days (knock on wood), I will have lived in seven different decades: the 1950s, the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s, the 2000s, and the 2010s. John Dewey (1859-1952) lived in 11 different decades! I'm going to kick Dewey's ass. I'm shooting for 2060!
Addendum: Charles Hartshorne (1897-2000) lived in 12 different decades! To match that, I would have to live to be 102. (On 1 January 2060, I will be 102 years old.) Bertrand Russell (1872-1970), like Dewey, lived in 11 different decades. Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679) lived in 10 different decades.
