I have two comments on this New York Times editorial opinion:
1. The editorial board reasons that, because Republicans were fiscally irresponsible during the Bush years, they are obligated to continue to be irresponsible during the Obama years. That's like saying that if you've been a thief all your life, you have an obligation to continue stealing. Thank God Republicans have regained their limited-government bearings.
2. What's wrong with being "the party of nope"? Is "yes" always the answer? Suppose Democrats proposed to nationalize newspapers. Wouldn't the editorial board want Republicans to say no? Republicans are saying no not because no is always the answer, but because the things they're saying no to are positively awful. No, no, no; you're not going to destroy this country, Democrats. We're going to stop you.
It's almost too easy to find fault with the editorial board of the New York Times. But hey, somebody has to shine the light of reason on these cockroaches.
