I awoke yesterday to find three inches of snow on the ground, which is a lot for North Texas. I was certain that my university would be closed for the day, but when I called, I got a recording saying that all activities would go on as scheduled. I ended up teaching all three of my classes, albeit to fewer students than usual. Snow continued to fall throughout the morning, which made the campus quite beautiful. When I got back to my car in the lot, it was covered with at least three inches of snow. I know how to handle such things, having grown up in Michigan. I scraped the snow off the car and made my way home, stopping at Kroger along the way. I later learned that the university closed at 3:00.
Overnight, it got colder, and this morning there was even more snow on the ground. Two tree limbs collapsed under the strain. One fell in the street in front of my house; the other fell near the car. (Click the first image to enlarge it.) Shelbie had a ball in the six to eight inches of snow in the meadow and on the school grounds. (Click the second image.) Someone had gotten out there before we did, because I saw tracks. I was exhausted by the time I got home. Each step required work. Shelbie had to jump up and down to get through the snow, so you will not be surprised to learn that she is napping as I write this. UTA is closed for the day. It doesn't affect me, since I don't go to campus on Fridays.
John Sullivan tells me that he has 10 inches of snow in New York City. Is anyone else snowed in? I may have to put my run off until tomorrow.
