Regarding William McGurn's "Down
but Not Out in Catholic Suburbia" (Main Street, Feb. 2): Experience tells me
that the most vibrant and successful Catholic schools are those that have
painstakingly preserved their religious identity. Parents who are enthusiastic
about Catholic education do not choose such schools because they offer
facilities or curricula that are comparable to that of well-to-do suburban
public schools. Rather, they choose these schools because they offer something
altogether different: a world view and education which are integrated with the
Catholic faith.
