To the Editor:
“And the Gender-Neutral Oscar Goes to . . .” is
typical of the current generation of feminists: they are determined to
find bias and discrimination where none exist. This is necessary to keep
their industry going.
If Hollywood should combine the Oscars for
best actor and best actress into one gender-neutral award, then it
follows that we should also combine Mother’s Day and Father’s Day into
Parents’ Day, lest anyone think moms cannot compete with dads.
Of
course, no one would think that, not with a continuing societal bias
that says women are better parents than men.
Instead of conjuring
up false biases, how about fixing the real remnants of gender
discrimination? For example, how about including women in the military
draft if it should be reinstated, giving men a fair share of child
custody, and working to remove the biases that say women are more honest
than men, better communicators and team players? The list of biases
that favor women is long and largely ignored.
But don’t expect
organized feminism to work to eradicate such biases. They tacitly
support discrimination that favors women.
