To the Editor:

Re “President
in ‘Excellent Health,’ Routine Checkup Finds” (news article, March
1):

What kind of a message is being sent by President Obama, who,
as he continues to press for health care reform and advocate healthy
lifestyles for Americans, is still smoking?

Also, while
considerable details were made public about his recent medical checkup,
nothing was said about the full extent of his cigarette use.
