Yesterday's health-care debacle could be beneficial to the conservative movement in the long run. Think about it. The American people are now energized. They know that they are not being represented in the White House or in the halls of Congress. They know that an elite band of progressives, led by President Obama, is trying to Europeanize this country. They know that they are thought of as fools, misfits, and bigots by their "betters" in government. This is still a democracy. Come November, Democrats will feel the wrath of the people they disregarded and insulted. If Congress is taken over by Republicans, as I expect it will be, President Obama will be impotent for the remainder of his term, and he has no chance of being reelected. Once we get a Republican president and Congress, we can undo the damage that was done yesterday. Here is William Jacobson's post in the same vein.

Addendum: Here is a New York Times story about the bill. The story is ostensibly about Republican efforts to repeal the bill, but in reality it's an attack piece disguised as journalism. The reporters make it seem as though opposition to the bill is rooted in racial bigotry. If you oppose progressivism, you're a racist!
