President Obama has nominated Elena Kagan to be an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. If she is confirmed by the Senate (as she certainly should be), she will become the third Jewish justice. The other six justices are Roman Catholic. All nine justices will be graduates of Ivy League law schools: five from Harvard, three from Yale, and one from Columbia. Only three of the justices clerked for Supreme Court justices: John Roberts for William Rehnquist; Stephen Breyer for Arthur Goldberg; and Elena Kagan for Thurgood Marshall.
