Death of Socrates I posted spring-semester grades yesterday, which means I've completed my 21st year at the University of Texas at Arlington. I taught for a year at Texas A&M University while completing my Ph.D. dissertation, so I've now been a professor for 22 years. Where did the time go? In case you're wondering, I still love teaching. It's a challenge to translate the writings of great philosophers into a language my students can understand. I can't get through to every student, obviously. Some have no philosophical aptitude. Some, sadly, don't belong in college. But I get through to some, and that makes it worthwhile. Come late August, I'll be back in the classroom, teaching Logic (PHIL 2311) and Social and Political Philosophy (PHIL 3330). In the meantime, I'll be reading and writing, plus living a rich and rewarding life. I am blessed.
