Re “History
for Dollars
” (column, June 8):

David Brooks may be pleased to hear that liberal arts and accounting are
no longer mutually exclusive. Students choosing to study business, a
top major for decades, need to understand all of the disciplines that
are important in the business world. Yes, accounting. But employers are
in pursuit of even more: creative, critical and conceptual abilities; a
clear understanding of technology; and comprehension of the world around
us.

Employers have made it clear to us. This is the winning
combination.
