To the Editor:

Re “A Basic Civil Right” (editorial, June 11):

After almost 25 years in a committed relationship, raising two incredible children (conceived with eggs donated from our sisters), two houses, joint assets and joint debt, shared joys and shared pain, complete and loving integration into each other’s families, paying our taxes, contributing to our communities on a local and national level—essentially, navigating a rich and sometimes complicated life together—we are still barred from the privileges, economic and societal, afforded married couples.

If we’re not worthy candidates for marriage, then who is?
