To the Editor:
I am an independent conservative who continues to be amazed at the
naïveté of American liberals, the disenchanted middle and the media who
helped elect Barack Obama in the first place. He was a candidate with
seemingly enormous potential, greatly articulate, attractive and cool.
His message was swallowed whole, without much analysis and cogitation.
Now, after 18 months, his biggest supporters feel betrayed and wonder
what went wrong. Beware of anyone who says he is going to change
everything—especially when he has very little legislative or
managerial experience, and no business background, but lots of theory.
Maybe if the media hadn’t wanted him in so much we would have had fairer
coverage of him to expose him for what he really is.
