Only that which puzzles calls for explanation. John Pepple is (rightly) puzzled by the alliance between progressives and Islamists. (Note the difference between Islamism and Islam, or between Islamists and Muslims.) In this interesting blog post, he adduces several theories. I think he left one out. Progressives consist, in large part, of women and effeminate men (which is why academia, a safe place, is overwhelmingly progressive). They are weak, timid, and cowardly. They have no fear of being harmed by Christians, so (surprise!) they willingly bash them at every turn. They are, however, scared to death of having their heads cut off by Islamists, so, out of self interest (but in violation of their professed principles), they give Islamists a pass.
