At age 67, I’ve lived long enough to see much change. Today, I see
young people old enough to work but without the desire to, simply
because they can get along without a job. And they apparently feel no
guilt at all.
They’ve either learned from their parents or their
lack of a good background about how to take advantage of a system that
allows them to exist without legitimate employment.
Some of them
receive housing supplements, while others have free medical benefits.
Some simply live off their parents. Blame, when it is called for, is
placed in the political arena to be tossed back and forth, with no
meaningful resolution.
In my day, work was king. Emotional
maturity started from that point and didn’t slack off. Where is the
emotional maturity today, along with responsibility, pride in
workmanship, duty and honor?
