Here are video highlights of today's stage of the Tour de France. The stage winner was French cyclist Thomas Voeckler, who averaged 24.54 miles per hour for 116.5 miles. The French are doing well in this year's Tour.
You may have heard about the controversy involving Andy Schleck and Alberto Contador. Schleck began the day in yellow, 31 seconds ahead of Contador. Just as Schleck was attacking on the final climb today, his chain came off. Contador was in the process of responding to the attack and kept going when Schleck faltered. He finished 39 seconds ahead of Schleck and took the yellow jersey. Some people think Contador should have eased up. I would agree with these people if the chain had come off earlier, when the two were riding together; but Schleck was in the process of attacking! In fact, his chain came off because he was attacking! Do you see the distinction I'm drawing? Here is a preview of tomorrow's difficult stage.
