If you're not reading John Pepple's blog, you should be. Here is his latest post. By the way, John insists on calling himself a leftist because he's an egalitarian. But everyone is an egalitarian. The difference is what one seeks to equalize. Conservatives insist on equal opportunity. Everyone, they say, should have an equal opportunity, under the law, to get wealthy. Progressives insist on equal outcomes. When the market doesn't produce them, progressives want the state to intervene, coercing some for the sake of others. This undermines individual liberty, which I assume John also values. It's more complicated than this, obviously, but you get the idea.
