Read the comments on this New York Times story. Some of the commenters are drawing evaluative conclusions from factual premises. They need a course in critical thinking.
Addendum: The reasoning seems to be that, since a species that precedes Homo sapiens ate meat, it's morally permissible for us to eat meat. This reasoning would license us to do whatever this species did. If they cannibalized, it would be morally permissible for us to cannibalize. If they raped, it would be morally permissible for us to rape. If they murdered, it would be morally permissible for us to murder.
