Katherine and I are watching the Academy Award-winning films from 1969 to the present. Yesterday, we watched The Sting (1973). I had never seen it. I enjoyed it, though the plot was complicated and I still haven't put the pieces together. I need to watch it at least one more time to make sense of things. It was great to see a young Robert Redford. My friend Phil says he doesn't care for Redford's politics, but loves every movie he's been in. Both of us have a special fondness for Jeremiah Johnson (1972). I was struck by the facial similarity between Redford and Brad Pitt. The jaw and mouth are the same, and some of the head movements and facial expressions are eerily alike. Has anyone noticed this? Paul Newman did a good job of acting, as usual. Robert Shaw (think Jaws) was good as the bad guy. The scenes from the 1930s were interesting. Next up: The Godfather Part II (1974). Have you seen any good movies lately? Any comments on The Sting?
