IMG_0671 Katherine and I had a family outing at the ballpark yesterday. It was 105º when we left home and 100º when the game started at 7:05. (Officially, it reached 107º.) The crowd was disappointingly small, considering that both the Texas Rangers and their opponent, the Minnesota Twins, are in first place. We sat in the upper deck, behind home plate. Ranger pitcher Rich Harden was removed from the game with two outs in the seventh inning. Why is this remarkable? Because he had a no-hitter! Relief pitchers preserved the no-hitter until the ninth inning, when Joe Mauer got a one-out single. It ended up being a one-hit shutout. The moon rose over the left-field grandstand early in the game; it was gorgeous. I ate a bag of peanuts and a strawberry chill. Everyone had fun, especially three-year-old Luki. I've never seen a no-hitter in person. I told Katherine that Luki might see one in his first Major League game!
