To the Editor:

I am delighted to see the reaction of your editors, Op-Ed pundits and
liberal readers to the surge of conservatism across America, even in the
Northeast.

The struggle between conservatives and moderates/liberals in the
Republican Party has been going on for decades. From Senator Robert A.
Taft to Barry Goldwater to Ronald Reagan and beyond, the conservative
movement surged and ebbed until you thought, in 2008, that you had
extinguished this “unenlightened” thinking.

Previously a relative minority of us were firm believers in small
government and adherence to the Constitution. Suddenly, vast numbers of
formerly unaligned, uninvolved voters have come alive to actively oppose
the socialization of America, galvanized into action by a far-left,
mysterious president, in league with big-spending leadership (Nancy
Pelosi and Harry Reid).

Please continue to underestimate and denigrate those whom you neither
understand nor believe can be “real.” We are “real” Americans, and we
will prevail.
