Katherine and I are watching the Academy Award-winning movies from 1969 to the present, in chronological order. Two days ago, we watched The Godfather Part II (1974), which comes in at three hours, 22 minutes. (We watched it in halves.) I liked Part II better than Part I, though I couldn't tell you why. Perhaps it's because Part II didn't have Marlon Brando in it. The acting in Part II was superb, in my humble opinion. Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, and Robert De Niro were terrific. (Diane Keaton was stiff.) Does anyone agree with me that there should have been three Godfather movies rather than two? The first would show Vito Corleone's rise to power; the second would show the rest of his life; the third would show his son Michael's ascendancy and downfall. Next up: One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). By the way, I had never seen The Godfather Part II.
