Katherine and I are watching the Academy Award-winning movies from 1969 to the present, in chronological order. Yesterday, we watched the 1975 winner, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest. I've seen this movie several times in my life, but enjoyed it tremendously all the same. The acting is superb all around, especially by those who played Billy and Cheswick. A horrible thought occurred to me as I was watching: Was McMurphy goofing around with the Chief just before the Chief smothered him? McMurphy had goofed around earlier, after the shock therapy. Perhaps the lobotomy didn't turn him into a zombie but left him with some personality. I don't think we're supposed to interpret the scene this way, but it makes you wonder. What's your favorite scene in the movie? I like the scene in which Mac "announces" the World Series.
