Dr. KBJ,

My brother moved to Canada because he was tired of the liberal direction the U.S. was heading (ironic?) and he periodically sends me stories from Yahoo! Canada. This past Halloween, a mom allowed her 5-year-old son to dress as a woman. Other moms looked on in horror and made some comments about the costume. In response, the mother created a blog griping about the judgmental attitudes from other moms. (Here is a link to the story about the blog.)

I, personally, would not allow my son (should I be blessed with one) to dress as a woman for Halloween. I would also reserve judgment if I saw other parents allowing their sons to do so.

I do feel, though, that the woman's blog, and this story, contribute to the madness. Her blog griped that other parents were being judgmental for her decision to allow her son to dress like a woman. The story and her blog (which says 'good parents tell their child he can be anything he wants') makes a judgment against parents who WOULD tell their child he's not wearing the costume. Is it a different side of the same judgmental coin, or am I missing something?
