To the Editor:
Re “The Tax Cut Endgame” (editorial, Dec. 7):
“Obstructionism” is what Democrats charged Republicans with when they wouldn’t go along with the Democrats’ spending. Now the same charge is made about Republicans’ refusal to raise taxes.
What will it take for Democrats to understand that “obstructing” excessive spending and tax increases is exactly what a majority of American voters voted for in the recent election?

To the Editor:
I admire President Obama for choosing practicality over ideology in reaching a compromise with Republicans on the tax cut and unemployment compensation issues. I only hope that my liberal friends will recognize that we must all be willing to give something in order to move the nation forward, while continuing the struggle against the extreme right.
