Katherine and I are watching the Academy Award-winning movies in chronological order, beginning in 1969. Yesterday, we watched Annie Hall (1977). I had never seen it, though a few of the scenes were vaguely familiar. Maybe I saw advertisements for it or something. I laughed continuously during the movie. It was hilarious. Woody Allen is a comedic genius. His mannerisms are funny; the lines were witty; and the acting was superb. I'm not a big fan of Diane Keaton, but she did a good job. Of the nine movies we've watched so far, the best have been Midnight Cowboy (1969) and Annie Hall (1977).
Next up: The Deer Hunter (1978), which is twice as long (three hours, three minutes) as Annie Hall.
Addendum: Here is a clip from Annie Hall.
